Interviewing Tips

Preparation is the key to a successful interview for a new position at MBNA.


Research the position

  • Research the company and position if possible.
  • Prepare yourself for job-related questions.

Do your homework

  • Based on the qualifications listed on the job posting, create a "Top Five List" for yourself of your five biggest selling points and look for opportunities in the interview to present them. Some examples of things that you may want to highlight in the interview are listed below:
    • Highly-rated performance reviews (be prepared to highlight the specific factors that you did well in)
    • Recent awards
    • Community volunteerism
    • Demonstrated leadership skills
    • Examples of innovative ideas
    • Related education and work experience
  • Practice delivering your responses to the most commonly asked interview questions.
    • What are your short-term/long-term goals?
    • What are your strengths/opportunities for improvement?
    • What do you like/dislike about your current job?
    • Why do you want to work for MBNA?
    • Why should you be selected over the other candidates?
  • Practice interviewing with your friends and request constructive feedback.
  • Support your past accomplishments by giving examples in your interview question responses.
  • Carefully prepare the application to ensure there are no spelling or grammatical errors.

Be ready on interview day

  • Make sure you've had a good night's sleep.
  • Dress neatly and professionally.
  • Arrive at least five minutes early.
  • Shake hands.
  • Listen carefully before you answer each question, and speak clearly when responding.
  • Bring a pad and pen to take notes.
  • Ask the interviewer about the position.
  • Be natural; be yourself.
