Is applying online secure?
Yes. All data transmitted between your computer and our secure site is protected by an encryption method called Secure Sockets Layer (SSL). This is industry standard security software, which prevents anyone but MBNA from viewing your personal details. SSL encodes your data before it is transmitted over the Internet.
An icon, such as a lock or key, will be displayed in the corner of your browser's window to let you know that your browser's encryption is active. If you do not have this level of encryption or simply prefer to submit your application by telephone, please call our Platinum Prestige Line® number at 1.888.733.4720 or our FixPay Platinum Plus® number at 1.877.728.3669.
Who can apply?
To apply for personal credit, you must have reached the age of majority in your province of residence and be a Canadian resident.
How do I know that my application form was successfully submitted?
Receipt of your application form will be acknowledged by a thank you message, which will appear automatically after just a few moments.
If this does not happen:
- hit "refresh";
- click on "yes" if you are asked to "Repeat application form Data";
- submit the application form again, checking to see if all the relevant data has been completed.
If you still don't receive confirmation, simply call our Platinum Prestige Line® number at 1.888.733.4720 or our FixPay Platinum Plus® number at 1.877.728.3669. Give us the reference priority code listed in the application security bar and we'll be happy to complete your application over the telephone.
How long does it take to get a decision on my application?
Our Credit Specialists view every application we receive on an individual basis. We take our time and try to approve every individual who applies. We will notify you of our credit decision by mail within 30 days from the date that we receive your completed application.
How are my creditors paid?
During the application process, if approved, your creditor information is obtained (terms and conditions will be provided once the account is opened and your creditors will be issued payment). Please keep in mind, some creditors do not accept electronic payments therefore cheques will be mailed to them. This can add extra time to the process.
