How does a rewards credit card scheme work?
Spend money on a rewards credit card and you'll earn points or discounts which can then be redeemed for goods and services. The more you use your card for everyday spending including food and petrol the more points you will earn.
Who is the rewards credit card best suited for?
Rewards credit cards are ideally suited to those who are happy to use the card for everyday spending to accrue the maximum amount of reward points. Compare our rewards credit cards to see all our offers.
Can I still balance transfer on a rewards credit card?
Yes, all of our speciality rewards credit cards offer a 0% introductory rate on balance transfers that allow you to transfer existing debt to the card from another credit card or loan. A handling fee will be charged for balance transfers.
Am I able to transfer money to my current account using my rewards credit card?
Yes, MBNA is one of the few credit card providers to offer the convenient service of transferring funds from the credit card directly into your current account-ideal if you want a cash boost. However, like balance transfers, a handling fee will be charged.
How do I redeem my reward points?
This will depend on the rewards credit card you choose. Each rewards scheme will have a different way of redeeming points or discounts offered. Usually, you are given access to a rewards website which details offers and discounts where points can be redeemed.
How do I see how many reward points I've earned?
Your reward points will be shown on your monthly statement.
When can I redeem my reward points?
As soon as you make your first card purchase on your rewards credit card you'll start to accrue reward points or discounts. Reward points can be redeemed as soon as you earn them.
What if the card account is cancelled, can I still use reward points?
If you or MBNA cancel your card account, all reward points will be revoked and can no longer be used.
Are there any other benefits to my rewards credit card?
All our credit cards carry the same great features and benefits, including:
- Online Banking: check your balance and transactions, view your PIN, set up a direct debit, carry out balance transfers and much more. You can now also help the environment by opting for paperless statements
- Fraud Protection: you will not be liable for fraudulent transactions online or on the high street, providing you tell us as soon as you notice any unusual transactions or cannot find your card
- Free 24-hour UK-based customer service helpline - wherever you are worldwide, whenever you need them, our customer satisfaction representatives are just a phone call away
- Optional extras such as LifestyleProtect, Card Protection and Identity Protection Alert
What will my credit limit be?
The amount will be determined by MBNA when you apply for the card. It will be individual to you and depend on your salary and credit history.
I have missed credit payments, can I still apply?
We will approve your credit card application if you have a good credit rating. You are likely to have a poor credit rating if you have recently missed credit payments or have outstanding CCJs.
